This is the first of a series of Wayzgoose Pamphlets, to be issued occasionally, on subjects related to printing and printing history. The design and handsetting is by Crispin Elsted; the presswork is by Jan Elsted. Readers are asked to accept, in a spirit of humanity, one wrong fount and a suspiciously neologistic plural. Fr. Goudy's Kennerley & Kennerley Italic were cast by Jim Rimmer (meritorious man - about - type and good Samaritan) at the Pie Tree Press and Type foundry, New Westminster. The paper is Basingwerk Heavy, which needs days to dry before being backed up; we had hours. The wood-engraving, printed from the wood on an 1854 Imperial, was engraved by Sarah Chamberland of Portland, that redoubtable chopper. 220 copies have been printed in March, 1984, with 120 reserved for inclusion in Wayzgoose '84 to be published by the Public Art Gallery, Grimsby, Ontario; the remainder are for sale. Crispin & Jan Elsted at Barbarian Press, 12375 Ainsworth Road : RR 5 : Mission, BC - Canada.
